Vaadates ringi LSx mootoritele pakutavat kraami, jäid silmeette üsna mõistlikud kaaned. Ilmselt on paljud juba seda kõike näinud ja kursis, aga kuna LSx mootoriga autosid on meil eestis juba parasjagu ning tuleb aina juurde, siis mõtete tekitamiseks ikka hea.
Mootor pole algpõhjana LS1 stockina, aga siiski.

Our LS2 modifications began with what we felt would return the biggest gains for the least effort. Both the Stage I and Stage II Livernois LS2 camshafts were installed in the short-block by Dominic Gabriel while the engine sat on the dyno.
Our numbers for just the Stage I Livernois cam uncovered impressive potential in the LS2. Peak numbers rang out at 494.4 hp at 6,400 rpm and 450 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm. That's a quick, 90hp pop for just a cam change! Torque numbers were up at peak, with only a slight loss down low--369.8 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm, showing that the engine will still offer good grunt with the cam. More interesting is the useable area under the curve and how much more useable rpm the engine picks up. With this cam, you won't need to shift the car until well past 6,500 versus peak numbers of 5,300 rpm for the stocker. Not only will you gain big power, but with an additional 1,000 rpm to use in each gear, the car will feel stupid fast.
With such a promising start, we couldn't wait to see what just a little bit more cam would do for us. The Stage II Livernois cam tops the .600-inch lift level and offers even more duration. It bumped output to 500.2 hp at 6,400 rpm and 449.8 lb-ft at 5,000 rpm. Check out that power graph--the stock cam starts running out of air at 5,000 rpm, but the Livernois Stage II camshaft keeps the party rockin' well past 6,500 rpm!
Next on our menu of LS2 speed parts was to experiment with a ported version of the stock LS2/LS6 cylinder heads (243 castings). Livernois Motorsports offers up several versions of the LS2 head with substantial port work and completely assembled for around $1,000. Affordable and packed with power, we were really looking forward to what these could offer us with a bigger camshaft
We got just what we were looking for with the Stage-I CNC-ported Livernois LS2 cylinder heads. They topped out at 520.3 hp at 6,300 rpm and an impressive 467.7 lb-ft at 5,100 rpm. While the peak numbers are impressive--a solid 20 hp and 18 lb-ft gain-the area under the curve is what really stands out. A little cam, some ported heads, and you've got yourself one nasty, small-block GM.
